Birth photography that is beautiful, intimate, and non-invasive
Those who say that wedding photography is very emotional definitely haven’t photographed birth of a child. I’m a dad of two and will remember forever how it was to stand by, nervous, tired, and helpless. The birth of a child is just… WOW. Emotions are everywhere. I love documenting the process and connection between mums and dads. When you get to see a baby who is just few seconds new, hear that first cry and that’s it, the emotional floodgates just burst. You may go in strong and stoic, but you leave an emotional puddle of joy. It is just simply amazing. So many happy tears. As a photographer, I can definitely say that it is very special privilige to be part of such a special event.
Birth Photography Process
As you would imagine, it could be quite tricky to determine when baby will be here. It can make this whole job much more interesting and challenging. Typically, we would meet up and have a chat about the process. I would pencil your due date in my diary and wait for your partner to give me a call. This means that I would be on call all the time. Of course there is the remote possibility of me not being able to make it, or perhaps at last minute you change your mind. That is why I don’t take any session fee payment upfront. First, we need to create these images. Currently this is still like my own personal project and I don’t charge for it until after the process is complete.
Normally when contractions start I get a call and then we determine how far apart they are. I like to arrive early and settle in. After that, I would simply observe and document whatever is happening around us. The final result is simply amazing and this is definitely an incredibly special keepsake to cherish.
