When I went to Stevenson college to apply for an HND, I was 100% sure that I will be an advertising photographer. I always liked idea of being in studio and shooting nice still life advertising. When I was on my first NQ year, we had to a reportage project. Pick you subject and go there and photograph it. I decided to do a project about dairy farm. And I picked Mackies dairy farm. Dairy farming is always been in my blood, since childhood, actually. Family had a farm. So I stayed there for 3 days and did loads of interesting shots.
At the end I came back and sent images to the farm. They decided to do a little sponsorship for me and supported me financially. That was a first time, when I was paid for my work. From there I did more self initiative projects around portraiture and came more closer to portraiture. College played enormous part of it. They give various projects, which r mainly people photography oriented, so more you do that more you realize which way u want to go.
I still like to shoot in studio. To make stills, but my main bread and butter now is portraiture and weddings. As quiet creative and energetic personality, I try to develop skill towards location portraiture. I try to get people to places which they love and cherish. Whether is home, park or seaside. We work together as a team, and try to come up with interesting ideas. People love my approach and they are happy to be outside of the studio. Of course I do studio work as well, but when weather permits, it is good to get out and about. Recently I accomplished a portrait photography project for couples, friends and families. You can see it here , and it even more made my decision to move towards creative portraiture. It is important to explore your market and try to get your unique selling point. And I’m working towards that now. I set my projects and look for volunteers constantly.
Here is my Portrait Portfolio from 2009 – 2010.
You will see more and more of my work here. I will try to get each session separately up here. I know it will be challenging and time consuming, but I will give a try.
I will try to notify all of you who were involved in projects.
